Stradsett Hall Garden Show Programme 2009

Sir Jeremy and Lady Bagge welcomed guests to the Stradsett Hall Garden Show in 2009. Stradsett Hall is a thriving country estate in rural West Norfolk where daily activities merge harmoniously with local community life.
The family enjoys a degree of privacy in the Stradsett Estate although are delighted to open the gardens to the general public for this very special Stradsett Hall Garden Show. In addition to the magnificent gardens, visitors will be able to enjoy walking around the lake which is home to many and varied waterfowl. Also on the estate is the beautiful 700-year-old Church, St Mary's, which will be the venue for the Flower Festival during the weekend.
Naturally, visitors will be delighted to view and explore the beautiful Stradsett Hall Gardens and Lake although the Stradsett Hall Garden Show 2009 hopes to offer you much, much more!
What was On
Art Exhibition - Come and enjoy artwork by a range of local, regional and national artists in our Art Exhibition.
Antiques Valuations - Bring along your antiques for a valuation on the day from the experts at Cheffin's Fine Art Auctioneers.
Butterfly Barrel Competition - Local schools and children's organisations are invited to create a container garden of plants to encourage butterflys and friendly bugs.
Silent Auction - A very wide range of lots will be available throughout the Garden Show for visitors to bid on. All our lots will be sold without reserve by the time the Show closes on the Sunday under the careful scrutiny of the Rotary Club of Downham Market.
The WI Tea Garden - Afternoon Teas will be provided in the Tea Garden from 11:00am - 5:30pm by the Norfolk Federation of the Women's Institute.
BBC Radio Norfolk - The BBC Radio Norfolk Gardening Programme will be broadcast live from Stradsett Hall Garden Show on Saturday 4 July between 12:00 and 2pm. Listen out for more information on BBC Radio Norfolk.
East Anglian Air Ambulance - Look out for the East Anglian Air Ambulance that aims to land at Stradsett Hall on Saturday 4 July. (Subject to attending an emergancy. Please note, it is not possible to guarantee either attendance or a time of arrival.)
Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast - The organisers of the Stradsett Hall Garden Show is delighted to announce that there will be a flypast of a Spitfire fromt he Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at 15:45 on Sunday 5 July. (Subject to weather conditions.)
75+ Trade Stands - Everything from plants and garden lamps to jewellery and fashion accessories will be available from our trade stands. Also available will be a special Plant Creche where you will be able to leave your purchases until you are ready to leave the Garden Show.
Flower Festival - St Mary's Church will be the location for the Flower Festival at the Stradsett Hall Garden Show.
Praise in the Garden - Sunday 5 July 10:30. There will be a special service in the Garden on the Sunday morning.
Refreshments - Hot and Cold refreshments will be available all day including Grill - English Hog Roast - Traditional English Sausages - The Deli - French Crepes - Tea & Coffee - Pimms & Beer Bar - Ice Cream.
Live Music - Entertainment will be provided during the weekend from the King's Lynn Town Band, The Salvation Army Anglia Youth Band and the Hilgay Silver Band which will play in the Tea Garden.
Other activities and attractions are being added all the time including a Children's Corner, Croquet on the Lawn, a Big Bone Walk, information and exhibitions by the Norfolk Gardens Trust and Norfolk Bee Keepers and our Charity Village where you will be able to find out more information on our beneficiary charities.
Tickets & Opening Times
Entry Fee - Adults £7.00. Children under 12 - Free.
No concessions except advanced group bookings. If you wish to bring a Group of 20 or more you can book Group Tickets before 30th April at £5 each. See Booking form for details (Click on group bookings ) We have circulated all Womens Institutes and Garden Clubs in East Anglia so early booking is recommended as we will limit the number of Coaches that may attend.
The Stradsett Hall Garden Show will be open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Other Information
Disabled Access is possible in the Gardens but is limited in some areas, particularly around the lake. There may be quite a long distance from the Car & Coach Parks to the Gardens and Trade Stand Area but an area for Disabled Badge Car Parking is available.
Dogs - Well behaved dogs are allowed in the Gardens on leads. Please be a responsible dog owner and do not leave them in a car, whatever the weather.
Picnics - These are only allowed in the car park areas. Please ensure that you take your litter home with you and respect that Stradsett Hall is a private residence.
